The first Swedish Restaurant and Bar has officially opened in the heart of Beijing, China. Aptly named “the W” after one of the owners, Swedish table-tennis player Jan-Ove Waldner. Among other owners you will also find the Swedish ice hockey star Michael Nylander. They have both made a contribution to the personal touch at the W.

The W has seating inside as well as outside in our wonderful garden, perfect for warm summer nights. On the menu you will find western inspired food, of which a large number are typical Swedish dishes such as meatballs and pancakes. In the bar you will find everything from draught beer to exclusive cognacs and long drinks. To put an extra spark to the visits of our guest we also have Swedish entertainers who perform on demand during the evening.

There’s a lot going on here, given that they’ve only got about five square metres to work with. The What Bar regularly hosts local bands, and is an excellent place to hear Beijing rock. Every seat is a front-row seat! Drinks are amazingly cheap — nothing over RMB 10.
