The Loft, the Golden Loft, now the Jade Loft! Beijing bar owners are evidently taken with the word, but at least they are all differently decorated: Jade Loft is in the style of 1920s Shanghai. The upstairs section is cordoned off by translucent silk sheets that hang behind ruby-coloured velvet couches, while a bar and stage are downstairs. The menu is a mishmash of European and Chinese cuisine, while the in-house music features a live band covering songs by the late Taiwanese diva Teresa Deng and popular Chinese songs from the 1950s and ’60s.
