Billed as ‘the largest disco in China’, and it just might be. The chrome-colored industrial decor serves as a backdrop for an elaborate pyrotechnic display, and 24 massive stacked speakers blare remixed house and techno. The dance floors rise and fall and the entire ceiling opens like the floating ships from Independence Day. The crowd is mainly local and there’s a security presence that hovers menacingly.
