Tired of the noisy crowds of Beijing’s wide and bustling boulevards? Just push past them and beyond the next corner for you will discover relief along an Old China hutong. There you can relax with friends, perhaps at the window beside our welcoming tree— friend to foreigner and Chinese a like, and chat away the time while preserving your recent memories of last weekend and the nostalgia of your youth.

You might also sit at the Tree House bar, under a dim and intimate light and amidst the warm dark aroma of freshly brewed coffee, and be regaled by tales at the Tree House. Under the jumping light of the ceiling lamp and in the company of camp-fire shadows dancing to the rhythm of café music, Tree House patrons recount their adventures. Enjoy the comfort and relaxation of spending time with old friends, as well as the fun and excitement of making new ones.

At the tree house, many activities/events will be held, including the following:
* Chinese Language Saloon
* Screening of Chinese Underground Documentaries
* Lecture on Chinese Culture

CHINESE corner every Saturday @ Tree House 3:00 – 4:30pm every Saturday

Well Bar Logo Beijing

Well Bar has made use of an old firefighting water well and turned it into an outdoor beer bar. Shady trees, ice-cold 1949 beer. Perfect for daytime leisure or late-night stargazing. Well Bar is a fleeting moment. Perhaps it’s why the bar does such a good job. In a few months it is not going to be here. “This is just a temporary fixture. During the winter, it’s going to be too cold to have an outdoor bar in Beijing,” says Danny Chang, bar manager. “We’ll open it back up in the spring, but in the meantime we’re planning to set up a terrace bar on the second floor with heating.”

Situated around the grass courtyard of 1949—The Hidden City, the Well Bar is built directly over a well that was once used to put out fires in the area. The neon circular bar dotted with cushioned seats and bar stools on its grassy knoll seems like a small amphitheater for the live music one can catch on the weekends. Featuring seven different kinds of mojitos (¥45), 11 kinds of martinis (¥59) and five kinds of slings—take note of the Singapore Sling (¥79)—Well Bar places tremendous importance on the quality of its libations.

Xiang Yue 08 Bar Beijing

Open 2pm-2am
Westside of Guohua Mall, southwest exit of ChangChun street subway, Xuanwu District.
宣武区长椿街地铁西南口国华商场西侧 map 地图
63159942

Take the south west exit of subway line 2 stop “Chang Chun Jie”, walk south for about 30metres and take the first small lane right, you can’t miss this bar.

Changchunjie doesn’t look like your regular bar area, and in fact it isn’t. Bars Beijing can only find one bar so far in Changchunjie but don’t be turned away by this bars’ tiny doorway. Situated under a block of apartments, a small door leads down a ramp into a cozy little bar. Private rooms with cushions and lounges are past the bar and the drink menu is similar to what you’ll find in Houhai.

Very pleasant owners and a quiet difference to the crowded bar areas of Chaoyang.
