One of a row of bars located opposite the 21st Century Hotel east of the Lufthansa Center, Hotline 1950 has gained a reputation for its quirky live performances, which in the past have included rap-metal shows, drag queens and comedy routines. They currently have a regular nightly variety show featuring a cover band, Mandopop singer and short comedy sketch routines. Hotline 1950 probably won’t blow you away with its sophistication, but it’s an intriguing place to get a good dose of old-fashioned Beijing kitsch.
